Global Data Merge

This feature allows you to rename key fields to one that currently exists in Ostendo. 

Warning: If you commit the renaming then the old value will be merged with the current value and there is no ‘undo’ facility. Extreme care should be taken with this option as merging records could create conflicts if you have rules set differently for the source record and the target record.

It is recommended that a backup of the database is performed prior to a Data Merge and thorough checking of the merged data should be performed after the merge.

Entry and Display fields

Select the Table-Field for Data Merging: From the drop-down list select the Table and Field name against which the merge will take place.

From Old Value: From the drop-down list select the ‘old’ value that you are going to rename.

To New Value: From the drop-down list select the current value to which the ‘Old’ value will be renamed.

Buttons

Merge All Records from Old to New Value:  If you click this button then all occurrences of the ‘Old Value’ will be renamed as the ‘New Value’

Close: Takes no action and exits the screen.
