Customising an Opening Grid:

Anywhere within the body of the Grid, right click and select (left click) the 'Customize Fields' option

The Customize Fields screen with then be displayed.

From this screen, scroll down and select (by ticking the 'Show Field' box) the field you wish to show on the opening grid.

Optionally type in a Label Heading in the 'Display Label' field alongside the field you wish to display. The Ostendo standard field name will be used if no label is entered.

You may also influence the Opening grids sort sequence by dragging the appropriate field from Sort Area 'Available' Field Name list over to the 'Sort By' area. Fields can also be dragged back to the Available area from the Sort By are.

NB: Care must be taken with the Sorting control, as this will influence where records are positioned in the Opening List by default. At any time you may reset the sort sequence back to its original standard setting.

Grid Load Performance

Grid performance can be heavily influenced by:

  • The number of fields included in a user's Grid Customisation settings. (faster Grid loading can be achieved by users removing unnecessary fields from their grids.)
  • Notes fields (commonly referred to as Blob fields).

To address this issue, two enhancements have been introduced that both improve performance and retain the ability to search Notes field content:

    1. All Blob (ie: Notes) fields can be selected however they are not be displayed in list grids. This dramatically reduces the amount of data retrieved and displayed, resulting in faster grid load times.
    2. Any Blob fields (for example, ORDERNOTES, ITEMNOTES, etc.) that are defined within the Grid Customisation settings are automatically included in the search function.

Users can search for words or phrases contained within these Notes fields, even though the fields themselves are no longer loaded into the grid.

Grid Searching

The Grid Search box is located at the bottom right hand corner of each Opening List. Typing a partial or full word or phase will search the grid of only those fields displayed, including the contents of notes fields if they have been set in the Customisation settings screen.
