Remote Database Service Latency Check (Only for HTTPS Environments)
Help -> About
Ostendo includes a Remote Database Service Latency Check, allowing sites to measure the latency between a client workstation and the Ostendo Database Service.
The latency value reported represents the round-trip time taken for a request to travel from the client machine to the Ostendo Database Service running on the remote server and back again.
Latency can be influenced by several factors, including:
- Internet connection quality and network latency.
- The current workload and processing activity of the Ostendo Database Service.
Important: This measurement differs from a traditional Ping test.
A Ping test measures the round-trip time to the underlying server or hosting platform only. It does not access or communicate with the Ostendo Remote Database Service itself. As a result, Ping times may not accurately reflect the performance experienced by users when running Ostendo.
The Remote Database Service Latency Check communicates directly with the Ostendo Database Service, making it a more representative measure of the latency and responsiveness that users will experience during normal day-to-day operation of Ostendo.
To run the Latency Check go to Help -> About and press the 'Run' button
